Buckingham Palace, London

My final destination for the London visit was the famous Buckingham Palace, seat of the Monarch of UK, in this case the Queen. Interestingly, the day I visited the palace was the official celebrations of the Queen’s birthday. Apart from the usual Change of Guards ceremony, a special celebration took place on this day. The Change of Guards occurs every single day around 11:30 am; except on certain circumstances.

Today, it is used not only as a residence but also as the administrative seat of London and a museum. In fact, the Queen often greets Heads of States in the Buckingham Palace or the Windsor Castle. A part of the palace is open to the public at certain times and tours are available which makes the people gaze and wonder at the rich and luxurious history of the British Royals.

This is probably the most famous frame of the palace. Thousands of tourists come here every year and click selfies and groupfies to remember their visit all through their lives. In fact, I can spot at least three groups busy clicking their own photos in this frame. 😛

Buckingham Palace is not too far away from the Trafalgar Square and the Horse Guards Parade, but since I had opted for the Hop- On Hop -Off Bus Tours this was one of the last few destinations. Buses and public vehicles are not allowed to stop in front of the palace. thus, they drop the tourists off at the bus stop from whence the palace is just a two minutes walk. From the bus stop the beautiful palace boundaries are visible with creepers and flowers growing in every direction.

The road in front of the palace is always decorated with the Flag of UK. It has rows of taxi waiting to pick up or drop hundreds of tourists who visit this landmark of London every single day.

Just beside the palace is where you can get a glimpse of the London Eye. This overarching feature can be spotted from every major attraction of the city.
